Why Should We Care?

It is hard to determine the value of an organism to human life; however, the value of that organism to its community can be quite critical to the survival of the whole ecosystem. One may ask, how can we judge which organisms are more valuable to the ecosystem than others so we can protect it? Usually, we don’t know the answer, so it’s a good idea to appreciate all intertidal organisms and minimize the damage as much as possible.

What can we do?

  • Establish monitoring programs to evaluate and monitor any changes that occurred to the intertidal community could be the first step to enhancing our current knowledge of the intertidal fauna.

  • Develop regulations and legislations for management policies to control collecting or harvesting activities of the intertidal fauna.

  • Increase public awareness.
